Kabul, Afghanistan—July 10, 2019—The Bayat Foundation (www.bayatfoundation.org), and Bayat Power (www.bayat-power.com), announced the successful completion of their inaugural joint community development initiative, which has built Mosques, Classrooms and other community buildings for the people of Jowzjan Province.
The Bayat Foundation, Afghanistan’s largest private charitable foundation and Bayat Power, Afghanistan’s largest private power generation company, are both champions of Afghanistan’s long-term economic and social progress. In January 2019, The Bayat Foundation and Bayat Power launched their community development initiative, as part of a long-term effort to build the spirit of cooperation and partnership with the people of Jowzjan, by building Mosques, Schools, other key public buildings and other social infrastructure, which help improve the quality of life for local families and communities.
The Bayat Foundation and Bayat Power focused their community assistance efforts in the following four villages located near Bayat Power’s gas fired power generation operations in Sherbergan, the capital of Jowzjan Province:
- Bakawil
- Eraaghly
- Shoor Aariq 1
- Shoor Aariq 2
Bakawil:
In Bakawil, The Bayat Foundation and Bayat Power sponsored the construction of two new classrooms for the village school. Completed in June 2019, the new classrooms will allow the children of Bakawil to learn in a modern and welcoming environment.
Eraaghly:
In Eraaghly, The Bayat Foundation and Bayat Power supported the renovation and replacement of two village mosques. Staff from the Bayat Foundation and Bayat Power worked with local residents to incorporate major improvements to each Mosque, including interior and exterior painting and the installation of new fans, carpets and seating.
The Bayat Foundation and Bayat Power employed many local residents to help complete the renovations, which helped strengthen the local economy.
Shoor Aariq 1 and Shoor Aariq 2:
In the villages of Shoor Aariq 1 and Shoor Aariq 2, The Bayat Foundation and Bayat Power supported the renovation and replacement of the local mosque. Staff from the Bayat Foundation and Bayat Power worked with local residents to incorporate major improvements to each Mosque, including interior and exterior painting and the installation of a new roof, fans, carpets and seating.
The Bayat Foundation and Bayat Power employed many local residents to help complete the renovations, which helped strengthen the local economy.
